Incremental materialized views are key to ensure customer-facing real-time analytics applications can deliver fast query performance on large datasets. Only some databases offer this capability and when they offer it they may only work on new inserted data but not on updates or deletes.
The table below shows the performance of queries from the list above when results are incrementally materialized if the database supports it. The multiplier in parenthesis compares the performance of the query against the materialized view versus the performance of the query against the raw data.
The results are not counted against the global score at the top because few databases support automatic incremental materialized views.
